Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing, or therapeutic recreation or at least 5 years direct resident experience; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
* At least three to five (3-5) years of healthcare experience.
* At least two (2) years of geriatric care experience.
* Certification/Licensure: Expertise in Alzheimer’s and related dementias to meet State license requirements.
Job Description and Duties
To develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for residents with cognitive impairment; to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident’s highest level of physical, social, and psychological well-being. Reports directly to the Administrator.
* Coordinates the development of the unit objectives, policies, and procedures.
* Participates in the hiring, scheduling, and supervising of the primary care aides.
* Provides in-service and all continuing education for employees, family members, and volunteers regarding the resident’s disease process, behaviors, techniques, and approaches.
* Pursues educational development in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
* Coordinates, with team members, the development of the 24-hour plan for the residents and quarterly updates in the progress notes. Assures delivery of service for each resident according to his or her 24-hour plan.
