We are looking for a team member to join us who is self-motivated and has broad experience in all the challenges that working in the property industry can bring. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to build up a rapport with colleagues, tenants and other professionals.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a team providing professional building advice, building services, repairs, maintenance, condition surveys and business support across the council. You will have an HND/Degree in Construction or equivalent experience and be able to use AutoCAD.
You will have the ability to carry out condition surveys, prepare reports, briefs, design schemes, prepare specifications, provide drawings and run projects from an in-house team or with outside consultants/contractors. Working knowledge and understanding of the application of the DDA Regulations, Health & Safety law, Building Control in the Construction Industry is essential.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Asset Management, the post holder will be expected to lead on the Councils stock condition surveys with the support of the wider team and have experience in a similar role, including managing budgets and ensuring the timely completion of projects. Knowledge of running service contracts and associated legislation is an advantage.
As well as time working either in the office or from home, you will be out in the community meeting council occupiers, commercial tenants and inspecting our properties.

Key responsibilities ...
* Investigations and surveys, including: measured, condition surveys; investigation of building and building services defects and the identification and prioritisation of maintenance needs.
* To carry out professional building and project management functions in the delivery of construction projects.
* Providing expertise in delivering projects to the highest quality standards, on time and within budget.
* To provide design and specification information suitable for tender to contractors which will be incorporated as part of the planned works programme or within various capital schemes, as required. You will be expected to manage the project budgets and provide regular reporting to the Head of Strategic Asset Management.
