We are recruiting to a permanent Personal Advisor to work in our Care Leaver’s team at Sharrow Community Forum, Nether Edge, Sheffield. This job is extremely rewarding as you will make a difference to a young person's life. You will need to have the following experience: Significant direct experience of working with looked after young people and young adults between ages 16 and 25 with experience of multi-agency planning with a basic understanding of the law relating to the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. An awareness of the criminal justice system and the respective roles and responsibilities of youth justice services, HMPPS/CRC and children’s services. Experience of supporting and advising young people leaving care by helping them to find suitable accommodation Experience and understanding of adolescence in relation to developmental, familial, social and environmental factors that impact on young people's wellbeing. Experience of acting as an advocate for young people and support them to make decisions for their future. Experience of providing assistance in budgeting and spending decisions, education, employment and training by undertaking a high-quality needs assessment and pathway plans alongside social workers. Negotiation and conflict resolution and solving problems. Experience of writing pathway plans for young people. You will need to be an excellent communicator, understanding and encouraging resilience in young people. You may be asked to travel and escort young people out of Sheffield and may have to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota, however additional payment will be made if you work out of hours.
