Job Introduction
We have a multi-media Newsroom, and various production departments, incorporating technical areas operated by a team of multi-skilled technical and operational people working across broadcast output seven days per week. We cover all genres of broadcast, News, Sport, Current Affairs, Documentaries, on all platforms of Television, Radio and Online.
This is the front line of content management, dealing with ingest from live feeds, satellites and circuits, including IP paths, as well as material from camera cards and file transfers and archive systems.
The role includes overseeing the integration of content with the various production and operations teams, using a range of technology, to deliver material on time and of the highest suitable quality.
Main Responsibilities
* Working within a team, across multiple days covering 7 days per week, with flexible hours as required, from 07:00 to 24:00, with occasional hours earlier and later depending on business needs.
* Planning, processing, delivering and allocating duties relating to bookings and adhoc events, such as circuits and satellite feeds requiring content movement, baseband video, audio and IP material, by using a range of tools and processes particularly including BNCS, BookIT and Schedulink.
* Being responsible for multiple ingest activities from camera cards and live capture, including file access from other systems and archives.
* Ensuring the availability of capability for undertaking playout of content, including for live transmission events.
* To provide supervision, training and oversight of other members of the team, especially Technical and Media Operators and other occasional temp staff, by encouraging knowledge-sharing and best practise awareness.
* To work autonomously, and often working alone, to deal with complex and unplanned requirements.
* To be competent in the use of desktop editing systems especially Avid, Cinegy and Dalet, to a basic level of loading and reviewing content, including edit sequences from multiple original files.
* To create advanced or extensive technical documentation and guides on supported systems and equipment, and can liaise with production departments to ensure programme requirements are fully met, producing documentation where relevant.
