This is a new and exciting post to support the development and delivery of the mental health care offer across the Primary Care Networks as part of our transformation of mental health services in Dorset.
The post holder will be based and embedded within the Primary Care Networks in Bournemouth East and West and supported by the East Dorset Community Mental Health Teams. The role will entail line management of the Specialist Mental Health Practitioners based within Primary Care (ARRS Specialist MH Practitioners) as well as the Physical Health Support Workers operating from the CMHT's and focused on the SMI register within a defined group of PCN's.
You will provide clinical and operational advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis, and decision-making skills.
Your role will be community based working Mon - Fri 9-5, but flexible working will be required to meet the needs of the role and service.
Travel across the East and West locality areas of Bournemouth will be required covering the main areas of Bournemouth, Southbourne, Christchurch & Highcliffe, but a base will be provided at one location.
Main duties of the job
* Responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.
* Day-to-day management and leadership of a clinical team and/or specialist practitioners and other staff in the multi-disciplinary team.
* To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience.
* To ensure the delivery of up to date evidence based practice.
* Contribute to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives to meet the needs of local people.
* The role will require working with GPs, practice nurses and other Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) workers e.g., Specialist Mental health practitioner, social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches, care co-ordinators, as part of the wider primary care Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and will also involve many other valuable services from the voluntary and community sector. You will work with primary care GPs to manage the mental health needs of their population at the point of contact. This includes those with lower-level support requirements that can be met within primary care.
* This role is accountable to the Integrated Service Managers for both Bournemouth East and West Community Mental Health Services.
