We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, caring TA to work under the direction of the SENDCo and alongside a team of Learning Support Assistants to support a group of children with SEND. You would need to be willing to: • Support the children throughout the day, helping them to maintain concentration and focus for short periods of time. • Support the children to follow classroom routines and work on specific individual targets. • Use a range of teaching strategies to support pupils with complex SEND needs e.g. visual timetables, now and next boards, PECS, choice boards, gestures/visual prompts, Makaton signing, tactile resources and objects of reference. • Support children with their personal care needs e.g. changing nappies. • Be aware of, support and follow school policies and procedures. • Assist the teacher by receiving instructions directly from professionals or specialist support staff involved in the children’s education. These may involve Social Workers, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. • Report any concerns regarding a child’s welfare or education to the class teacher and/or the SENDCo.
