Job summary The post holder will join a large team of consultants, specialist registrars, core trainees, advanced nurse practitioners, and will contribute to outpatient and inpatient clinical care, including the Acute Oncology Service and the Assessment Unit. The post holder will participate in the consultant 24-hour on call rota (pro-rata approximately 1 in 30 for 1.0 whole time equivalent), which is of low intensity. There is a mentoring scheme for newly appointed consultants with a senior consultant. There is a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme for counselling support for all staff, providing confidential assistance with any work, personal or family issues. Medical posts within the Velindre Cancer Centre are accountable to the Clinical Director supported by a Medical Staffing Team who are available every weekday. Main duties of the job The post holder's job plan contains 10 Programmed Activities per week on average at the locations specified below, and includes on-call at VCC (pro-rata, approximately 1:30 for 1.0 WTE, low intensity). This is an outline timetable and a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives will be agreed with the Clinical Director within 3 months of the start date.
