FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.
Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.
Job Purpose
* Provide front line Instrument/Control Engineering support to the operations site based team.
* Deliver engineering modifications where Instrument/Control Engineering is the main discipline.
* Provide technical discipline input to the Projects team.
* Ownership of the relevant Unity Performance Standards.
* Adhere to and promote Ineos 20 Principles and 7 Life Saving Rules to colleagues and external vendors.
* Specify, scope and execute improvements to instrument and protective systems.
* Act as asset instrument and protective systems engineering focal point for site projects, including studies.
* Act as Instrument and Protective Systems single point of accountability (SPA) for long-term Asset strategy.
* Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination and equipment rationalisation.
* Define and own the asset’s Instrument and Protective Systems spares strategy.
* Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination and continuous improvement.
* Lead/contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments and investigations as the Instrument and Protective Systems engineering focal point.
* Maintain the integrity of asset and protective systems relevant to discipline.
* Act as custodian of asset maintenance strategies for Instrument and Protective Systems equipment.
* Own the discipline relevant Forties Unity Performance Standards and close out ICP actions related to them.
* Support the maintenance team with the implementation of planned maintenance routines.
* Support the maintenance team in regards to equipment breakdown; including investigation of fault, defect resolution and execution of breakdown maintenance.
* Monitor and advise on the technical and safety implications of any maintenance backlog.
* Where required, lead and coordinate additional vendor support.
* Act as custodian of key Instrument and Protective Systems engineering documentation including Control Philosophies, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Hazardous Area Drawings, Loop Diagrams, Trip and Alarms Registers, Alarm Response Manual, ensuring same are kept up-to-date.
* Act as Single Point of Accountability (SPA) for Instrument and Protective Systems led site activity.
* Job Responsible Engineer for Asset Instrument and Protective Systems MOCs (Management of Change) proposals.
* Technical approval of Instrument and Protective Systems engineering content of Asset MOCs proposals.
* Provide technical support to asset TAR activities.
* Support the Instrument and Protective Systems Engineering Technical Authority with the development and ongoing management of electrical practices and procedures.
* Coach asset instrument technicians to ensure their competency and skills are continually improved.
Special Features
* Participation in the FPS incident management team as required.
* Travel to Offshore Platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support.

Qualifications and Technical Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree in Instrument Engineering or Equivalent.
* Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status.
* BOSIET, Medical and MIST for offshore travel.
* 5+ years’ experience including experience of Oil&Gas, Refining or Chemical Industries.
Job-Specific Skills:
* Knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning and maintenance legacy instrument equipment, control systems and ESD systems.
Job Knowledge Skills:
* Comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory (Safety Case, COMAH, etc) and industry standards, including subsea and onshore overland pipelines.
