Reporting line
Reporting to the Engineering Manager
Due to unprecedented success, our Client is seeking an experienced Research & Development Engineer to join their expanding design team, creating new products and improving existing products to satisfy their customers and seek to continuously improve the Company’s products and processes.
Job duties
• The creation of new products and improvements of existing product. This is from concept to finished product into production
• Information gathering at the initial stages of projects to create product design specification and maintaining accurate project information throughout design process
• The creation of BOM and product costing
• Work with life safety EN product standards, to gain classification and CE marking
• Prototype testing (both in-house and external) and documenting reports. Incorporating of test/certificate/reports into certification/literature liaising with QA
• In line with the needs of the engineering schedule produce high-quality, detailed, production ready manufacturing drawings
• Liaise with customers to ensure products designs meet their expectations
• Continuously seek to improve the design processes to ensure efficiency and flexibility
• Liaise with production to assist in the manufacture of product, providing any required information
• Ensure that the processes within your control adhere to relevant products standards
• Provide technical information and assist in the configuration of the company ERP system
Knowledge, experience and qualifications
• At least 2 years conceptual design experience obtained in a similar field
• Minimum of 3 years relevant engineering experience.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Experience of Autodesk Inventor (preferred)
• Experience with sheet metal (preferred)
• Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings
• Have the acumen to work with technical information/data and EN standards.
• A ‘can do’ flexible attitude, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
