Following a retendering process, the childrens service is due to be transferred to the new provider on the 1stof April 2025. Given this post sits within the transferring service, in line with the legislative requirements, the successful candidate will be part of the TUPE transfer along with other colleagues.

Surrey Children's Occupational Therapy is a community service within easy reach of London, Surrey offers the balance between city and countryside all accessible via major road networks M25, M23, A3 and M3.
Experience of working with children, young people and families with or without disabilities is desirable but not essential, so if you are looking for a change or are newly qualified we recognise that transferable skills are a valuable asset.
Due to the community nature of this post you will need to be able to work independently and be a car driver.
Main duties of the job
This post offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists and assistants in providing a high quality occupation based provision to children and young people aged 0-19 years in community settings.
You will carry out essential roles including assessment, equipment recommendation, advice and training, group and workshop facilitation and individual therapy. We are a proactive service responsive to best practice evidence, we deliver services targeted at the whole population supporting early years settings, schools and parents to meet needs pre- referral.
This role is currently joint commissioned which means that you will be involved in identifying the health and educational Occupational Therapy needs of children from 0 - 19 years old.

Job responsibilities
As part of PaediatricTherapy team to autonomously manage a complex caseload of children with a rangeof varied and complex needs. This willinvolve specialist assessment and treatment of children with complex needs.
To hold a specialist role withinthe team/surrey wide providing advice, support and training to team members andother professionals in that area of expertise.
To devise child centredtherapy plans using evidence based practice to ensure that the individualsfull potential is developed or maintained.
To provide clinical support, training and supervision for juniorteam members and students.
Responsiblefor the delivery of services and ensuring performance targets are met.
Deliveringspecialist clinical input into the service.
Leads on research, clinical audits and evidence based service pilots/projects to support the development of evidence based practice in collaboration with the professional lead and the clinical team lead.
Support the clinical leadership within the senior management team related to relevant their relevant specialism.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Hons or diploma equivalent in OT
2. Health Care Professionals Council License to Practice
Desirable
3. Post Graduate Training in specialist area relevant to paediatric practice. Specialist courses relevant to specialty school AMPs, CO- OP, Essentials in Occupational Therapy, Sensory integration etc.

4. Knowledge of legislation and government policies. Adhere to Professional code of ethics, boundaries. Ability to establish rapport with colleagues, clients and carers. Manage own time and prioritise caseload. Use supervision effectively to identify professional development needs and deliver appropriate supervision as well as evidence of ability to deliver training to both OT colleagues and stakeholders. Evidence of CPD Portfolio. Awareness of Evidence -Based Practice and application to professional practice. Ability to present self in professional and appropriate manner. Understands and responds to needs of the team demonstrates effective team and interagency working. Good communications skills verbal and written. Computer competent in word and excel. Understands the importance of documentation and confidentially. Demonstrable evidence of prioritizing and problem solving to enable autonomous working. Ability to select, analyse and interpret assessments. Car driver with access to vehicle for community working. 5. Previous experience of working with Children in the field of Occupational Therapy and / or other fields. Specialist knowledge of paediatric conditions. placement supervisor experience. Evidence of participating in service development and implementation of evidence based practice. Ability to design and deliver therapeutic groups. Knowledge of School Based Occupational Therapy and the implementation of EHCP legislation. Understanding of research techniques. Use of Electronic Patient records. To be a member of a professional body or special interest group RCOT.
