Our client is looking for an experienced and personable Head of Sales to join their market leading division. This appointment is an opportunity to strengthen the sales leadership team, and therefore the individual will need to contribute to both the overall sales strategy and culture while also leading the development and execution of the channel sales performance.
What’s the role?
The role reports to the UK Sales Director, and the successful appointee will be a senior sales leader within the UK business. You will be responsible for all sawn timber sales into the British market, leveraging the company’s long-standing presence in the market and reputation for high quality, service, and operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities:
* Growth of sawn timber sales revenue and sales margins within the existing routes to market for the territory, you are responsible for by careful selection of customers and industries with which to supply.
* Finding value within our service offering and specifications to create value-based selling opportunities.
* The successful candidate will have a single direct report, which you will need to demonstrate leadership and development skills towards. You will also need to support the wider UK business's commercial strategy and goals.
* Collaborating with National Account Managers, Area Sales Managers, and the internal sales team to promote the sales of sawn timber to existing upgrading customers through product knowledge training, price list optimization, and reacting quickly to market movements.
* Establishing a wide internal and external network to enable, accelerate, and embed best practices and support for the company’s growth ambitions and strategies.
* Driving up channel intelligence and customer agenda, building strong and sustainable relationships with key trade partners that accelerate customer engagement and grow the number of long-term sustainable relationships.
* Developing productive, collaborative, and mutually beneficial working relationships with the wider business units in order to support their volume, specification, and value requirements.

Key Qualifications:
* Proven track record of growing sawn timber sales in the UK market.
* Experience working directly with Nordic sawmilling.
* Customer-oriented and creative: willing to be hands-on with the trade but still committed to building and leading from behind, with results coming from the capability of the team and active partnerships with customers.
* Effective and rounded commercial negotiation skills, which create sustainable end-to-end and conditional agreements.
* Culturally sensitive and adaptable.
