Production Manager £50-£60K DOE | Mon-Fri 8am-5pm | Manningtree | Company Car Allowance | Pension Scheme | Healthcare Plan | Life assurance | Cycle to work and many more | Site visits and occasional overnight stays | Technical expertise | Leadership | Strategic thinking | Health & Safety | Engineering | As the Production Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of production and maintenance processes, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking to the role. The post holder will be based at the production and maintenance facility in Manningtree. Regular travel to other sites and overnight stays away from home will be required from time to time. Duties (to include but are not limited to): Factory Management Oversee day-to-day operations of the production and maintenance facility, ensuring optimal workflow and efficiency. Implement and monitor production and maintenance schedules, resource allocation, and output to meet business goals. Manage planned maintenance works on mobile units while off contract. Ensure the facility operates at peak performance while maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory standards. Production and Maintenance Planning Develop comprehensive production and maintenance schedules, ensuring alignment with project deadlines, quality expectations, and cost objectives. Deliver the mobile units on plan and to budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, design, facilities, logistics and other support functions, to streamline operations. Complete end of contract inspections on client sites as required. Complete pre and post maintenance works inspections. Use data-driven insights to forecast production and maintenance needs and align resources accordingly. Team Leadership Manage and mentor a team of skilled production and maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Ensure adequate staffing levels and oversee performance appraisals, training, and development. Conduct local HR Management where required. Budget Management Take ownership of mobile unit production and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality. Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management. Create, maintain and deliver on the facilities budgets. Health & Safety Compliance Lead the enforcement of health and safety regulations within the factory operations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Produce RAMS for production and maintenance tasks and review contractor RAMS. Ensure all statutory inspections are in date at all times. Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Management Oversee CAPEX projects, ensuring they align with company objectives and are completed on time and within budget. Evaluate and approve investments in new equipment, technology, and infrastructure. Quality Control Ensure all products meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes. Work with the Quality Manager to address any non-conformities or defects in a timely manner. Maintain fleet records where required. Process Optimisation Continuously review and optimise production and maintenance processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other industry best practices. Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align expectations and resolve issues. Support the Facilities Manager and Operations Support Team in managing maintenance works on units on live contracts. Inventory and Supply Chain Oversight Manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials while minimising excess stock. Collaborate with procurement to source high-quality materials at competitive prices. Monitor supply chain performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Person Specification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field would be beneficial. IOSH Qualification or equivalent. Advanced qualifications (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Prince 2, Chartered Engineer/Manager) are a plus. Proven track record and time served is advantageous. Minimum 7 years in production management or a similar role within a manufacturing environment. Worked in the modular building or coachbuilding industry would be advantageous. Experience managing contractors. Awareness of healthcare specific technical guidance (HTM’s & HBN’s) would be advantageous. ISO 90001,14001, 45001, BIM 19650 awareness. Familiarity with CAPEX planning and implementation. Experience in managing budgets, financial planning, and cost control.
