Role Overview – Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our leading global engineering client are on the look out for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team at their site based in Fareham. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a number of solutions to execute requirements for both project needs across the aerospace industry.
Key Responsibilities - Senior Mechanical Engineer
Develop engineering solutions to meet project requirements, including schedule, quality, and cost considerations, while adhering to company processes.
Work with internal and external customers, suppliers, and colleagues in mechanical, systems, and hardware disciplines
Manage formal requirements allocated to mechanical systems, validate these requirements according to industry standards, and demonstrate compliance through design descriptions and verification methods (e.g., testing, inspection, analysis).
Compile work estimates and plans to support project managers. Proactively track progress, update plans, and adapt as projects develop.
Mentor and develop apprentices, undergraduate interns, graduate engineers, and non-senior engineers to enhance their skills and increase department capacity. Lead the mechanical team by example, providing motivation and support as a subject matter expert.
Actively contribute to and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the department, including process improvements, tool enhancements, and efficient ways of working within industry regulations.
Key Experience & Requirements - Senior Mechanical Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in a leadership role
Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects from conception to completion
Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes, and best practices
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and quality
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and disciplines
Experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers
