Job Title : Cover Supervisor (Ad-hoc) Location : Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK Job Type : Ad-hoc, Temporary Start Date : Immediate Job Description: We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a group of secondary schools in Hinckley on an ad-hoc basis. As a Cover Supervisor, you will step in to supervise lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students stay engaged and complete their work. Key Responsibilities: Supervise Pre-Planned Lessons : Lead classes across a variety of subjects (e.g., English, Maths, Science, Humanities) by following the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. Classroom Management : Maintain a well-managed classroom environment, ensuring that students behave appropriately, remain on task, and engage in the lesson activities. Support Student Learning : Offer assistance to students during lessons, helping them understand the tasks set and encouraging them to complete their work to the best of their ability. Report to Teachers/Leadership : Provide feedback on student behavior, progress, and any issues that may arise during the lesson to the relevant teacher or leadership team. Safeguarding : Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to school safeguarding protocols and reporting any concerns as needed. Flexibility : Be available for short-notice cover across a variety of subjects and year groups, adapting to different classrooms and lesson plans. Administrative Duties : Assist with administrative tasks such as handing out materials, collecting work, and supporting students with group activities as needed. Requirements: Experience working with secondary school-aged students (ages 11-16), ideally in an educational or supervisory role. Strong classroom management skills : Ability to effectively maintain a positive, focused classroom environment. Good communication skills : Able to communicate clearly with both students and staff in a calm and confident manner. Organizational skills : Capable of managing a classroom and following lesson plans with little supervision. Proactive attitude : Flexible and willing to work across different subjects and year groups as required. DBS Check : Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). Professionalism : Punctual, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards in a school setting. Desirable Skills: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role is advantageous. A specialism in subjects such as English, Maths, or Science is beneficial but not essential.
