The post holder is responsible for the delivery of the operational Registration Authority (RA) services, including issuance and maintenance of both physical and virtual smartcards, as well as supporting the use of biometric authentication, to the Trust's staff and, with the Digital Service Manager: Service Desk, the strategic elements of this delivery.
Provide specialist support, information and advice about smartcards, access rights and their use to Digital staff, RA Agents, RA Sponsors and end users.
Ensure a comprehensive and efficient Registration Authority service for all professional and administrative staff within the Trust, other members of the health community and to other external agencies, as required.
Assist with the provision of local ad hoc reports and the delivery of all mandatory national returns within appropriate timescales.
Manage the introduction of new initiatives, liaising with staff at all levels within the organisations involved as required.
Deal with enquiries and use own judgement in providing the response.
Management and support of project implementations.
Undertake audits as required by national standards and local requirements.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
* Conducting identity checks to GPG45 Level 3 or 4 standards and issuing smartcards following proven identity verification.
* Training RA Agents and Sponsors to ensure competency in their roles and compliance with policies.
* Developing, implementing, and maintaining RA Policies and Procedures at the Trust Level, ensuring adherence to national standards.
* Auditing RA records (both digital and paper-based) and processes to ensure compliance with national and local standards.
* Managing RA-related activities such as certificate renewal, card unlocking, and handling lost or stolen smartcards.
* Ensuring access rights are removed promptly for leavers or those without a valid business justification, preventing potential security breaches.
* Managing and ordering specialist RA hardware and consumables.
* Maintenance and servicing of specialist RA hardware, and the managing and ordering of consumables, eg printer cartridges/cleaning materials.
* Supporting and deputising for other managers within the service delivery function.
