Job Title: Naval Architect (Contract - Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)
Hourly Rate: £40-49 per hour

About the Role:
We are expanding our Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture capability and are looking for a skilled Naval Architect to join our team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative and challenging projects, contributing to the design and development of maritime systems and structures.
The ideal candidate will be a sole UK National, qualifying for Security Clearance, with experience in naval architecture and marine engineering. We welcome candidates from all levels of experience who are ready to take the next step in their career and make a meaningful impact in this dynamic field.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work transparently with various engineering discipline leads and teams to provide clear, concise reports and updates regarding progress, risk management, and opportunities.
2. Share learnings and operational best practices from previous engagements.
3. Undertake technical and feasibility studies, as well as site investigations to inform decision-making and project direction.
4. Develop detailed requirement specifications for marine and naval architecture projects.
5. Support projects throughout their engineering lifecycles, from initial concept through to final delivery.
6. Assess potential risks of specific projects and manage risk within specialist roles.
7. Communicate effectively with a wide range of project stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity.
8. Participate in governance meetings to ensure projects meet all technical and regulatory requirements.
9. Use creative and logical thinking to resolve complex design and development challenges.
10. Adapt to evolving project requirements, ensuring relevant parties are informed of changes and adjustments.
11. Compile and peer-review project and technical reports for internal and client-facing use.
Domain Knowledge Requirements:
1. Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety and reliability.
2. Expertise in ship stability, weight allocations, and overall naval architecture.
3. Knowledge of servicing and operations in a dockyard environment.
4. Understanding of marine classification systems.
5. Experience with mooring and towing operations.
6. Proficient in ship systems and marine structures.
7. Develop, test, and evaluate theoretical designs in naval architecture.
8. Recommend modifications following prototype test results, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
9. Utilize research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, particularly in mathematical modeling and computer-aided design (CAD).
10. Assess implications of project constraints such as cost, safety, and time to optimize design and project outcomes.
