Job Title: Food Technology Teacher Location: Tower Hamlets Salary: £36,745 - £56,958 per annum (Full-Time, Permanent) Start Date: January 2025 Application Deadline: 31st October 2024 About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school in Tower Hamlets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching food preparation, nutrition, and culinary skills, and will be dedicated to inspiring students to develop a love for cooking and healthy living. You will have the opportunity to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 students, preparing them for both GCSE and real-world applications of food technology. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons that cater to different learning styles. Teach essential culinary skills, food safety, and nutrition principles in line with the national curriculum. Foster creativity and practical skills in the kitchen while encouraging students to understand the importance of healthy eating. Support students in preparing for their GCSE exams by developing their practical and theoretical knowledge. Manage and maintain the food technology kitchen, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. Collaborate with the wider Design and Technology (DT) department and participate in extracurricular activities such as cooking clubs and food-related events. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications. A degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field. Strong knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and food safety regulations. Experience in teaching Food Technology at secondary school level, preferably with GCSE experience. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students. A commitment to promoting healthy eating and food sustainability.
