Your role in themission:
Type One Energy group arelooking for a Lead Magnet Engineer tolead the design analysis specification and procurement of completemagnet systems for two projects. The first project is ProjectInfinity a medium scale stellarator that will demonstrate theperformance of a highly optimized stellarator magnetic fieldconfiguration as well as the viability of high temperaturesuperconducting stellarator magnets to produce that fieldconfiguration.
Following successful designfabrication and operation of Project Infinity Type One Energy willbegin construction of a second project the Fusion Pilot Plant(FPP). This plant will demonstrate net production of electricalpower with a closed fuel cycle.
The primaryfunction of this position is to provide technical leadership andengineering designfor the conceptual preliminary and final designand procurement of all the HTS magnets and related structures. Thiswill be followed by design and procurement of magnet systems andcomponents for the FPP.
Other KeyResponsibilities:
Lead amultidisciplinary team to develop the HTS magnet systemdesign.
Coordinate with theProgram Manager to develop the program work breakdown structureintegrated master plan and/or integrated masterschedule
Be responsible fortechnical quality and performance budget (cost) schedule and riskand opportunity for magnet systemengineering
Direct tradeoffsas needed to make optimum design choices with respect to technicalcost and scheduleconstraints
Provideproduct/subsystems design oversight for all magnet systemcomponents
ProvideConfiguration Management oversight for magnet system design andprocurement products
Supportthe transition of the system to the Manufacturing Operationsgroup.
Provide engineeringsupport forprocurement.
Coordinatebetween Engineering Functional Management andstaff
Work withfunctional engineering management to ensure that standardized toolsand development environment is utilized andapplied
Whatyoull need
* Masters orPh.D. in Engineering Physics or a relatedfield.
* Proven experience in leading engineeringdesign teams for highly technical complexhardware.
* Proven experience in planning designwork and meeting schedules within budgetconstraints
* Familiarity with CAD systems andengineering analysis software
* Knowledge of highfield electromagnets especially HTS magnets isdesirable.
* Strong analytical problemsolving andcriticalthinking skills.
* Excellentcommunication skills both written andverbal.
* Ability to work collaboratively in amultidisciplinary teamenvironment.
