Role details:
As Part of Altrad Babcock, Asset Management has a requirement for an Engineer to join their Engineering Design team. This role is supporting a business that creates and applies high end solutions to solve problems across multiple industries. The role is centrally based in Renfrew, however can also offer opportunities for visiting our customer’s sites in the UK and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
* Generate 3D product design scopes for engineering solutions, including product development and design for manufacture.
* Engineering design using 3D CAD tools. Including production of drawings, modelling, file format conversions, facilitation of design reviews, supplier product evaluations, and design risk management.
* Pipework Modifications (Anti-Vibration Pipework Supports, Anti-Vibration Pipework Dampers, Basic Pipework Modifications)
* Design & Constructability Assessment (3D Modelling, 3D Measurement, Clash Detection, Presentation, Constructability and Design Reviews)
* Occasional site based work will form a part of this role
* Using laser scanning tools to perform site surveys and reverse engineering
* Verifying and checking work done by other team members
* Use company and industry discipline codes, standards and working practices in order to deliver and coordinate engineering project tasks, in compliance with Business Operating Procedures (BOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
Key Requirements:
* Design Engineer – BSc/BEng in a discipline appropriate to one or more Engineering, Science or Technical specialism is essential
* Accredited post graduate training qualifying towards professional registration (e.g. IEng or CEng) of a recognised professional institution (e.g., IMechE) desirable, butnot essential.
* Sufficient and appropriate experience (5+ years) in one or more of the core Engineering design disciplines.
* Familiarity of application of document numbering and revision control systems
* Highly proficient in using CAD systems. Knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD is desirable.
* Ability to interpret customer requirements/specifications/drawings to produce 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, isometrics and P&IDs.
* Ability to select materials and pre-made components.
* Highly computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Comply with national laws/regulations and adhere to company-wide & functional BOPs and WIs in order to act in line with standardised working practices and ensure best practice. Familiar with Design/Drawing International Standards e.g. ISO 128 or BS8888
