Job summary The post holder will be able to undertake both quality telephone and face-to-face child centric pre-assessment for children aged from 6 months to 16 years having operations or procedures under general anaesthetic as well as supporting all children and young people undergoing operations or procedures Trust wide. The service consists of nurse led clinics, as well as clinical time spent across main theatres, DSU, outpatient areas and Rudham Ward to support children and young people as well as families while. Main duties of the job To work autonomously, managing own caseload of patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Discuss individual cases as required with members of the multi-disciplinary team. To provide health education and promotion advice whilst undertaking pre-assessment to ensure opportunities for optimum health prior to surgery. To provide support that is appropriately planned to meet the individual's needs, empowering them to take part in their care. Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct and any specific competencies for the role are completed. Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice. Provide the clinical expertise necessary for the efficient management of the paediatric pre-assessment caseload, relevant to the area of practice. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate child/family centred care with consideration of individual ethnic, cultural, social, developmental and religious needs.
