About the Role Project / Responsible Engineer The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Project / Responsible Engineer to work within the Design Engineering Group at Heysham 1 Power Station. The group are responsible for a broad range of non-system ownership activities to support compliance with our nuclear site licence, including specifying and designing changes to the plant, the implementation of the company modification process, managing corrosion and obsolescence, prioritising station risks and investments and demonstrating compliance with the company technical standards. All within the context of ensuring safe reliable generation, supporting station lifetime extension ambitions and preparations for defueling of the reactors. Each team member has their own areas of responsibility, but a broad understanding across all of the group’s activities is encouraged. Pay, Benefits and Culture The salary range associated with this role is between £45,641 - £81,263 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. What You’ll Be Doing Reporting to the Design Engineering Group Head, your main responsibilities will be: Project / Responsible Engineer (Intelligent Customer) for both low and high complexity projects; working with system engineers to define what the problem statement / project deliverables are, designing a solution, justifying the changes within our company modification processes and then either acting as the client to a project manager or managing the work yourself to ensure that all deliverables are met as intended in a timely manner. Implementation of these projects may be achievable during normal business or may need to be carried out during periods of shutdown. Either way you will be involved in the full lifecycle of the project, providing technical input along the way. This is a great opportunity to deploy your design engineering and project skills on a key piece of national infrastructure. Equipment reliability is crucial to the station’s success, to underpin this there are many modifications and projects that need your support. Who you are To succeed in this role, you will need high standards, a methodical approach, good communication skills and a proactive nature. Experience in a technical design role and/or delivery of projects in a safety critical / highly regulated industry would be advantageous. Academically, a minimum of a HNC in a relevant engineering / science-based discipline, a relevant degree and Chartered Engineer status would be an advantage. An extensive training programme is available to support you through your development in this role. You would need to hold or be able to attain the relevant security clearance prior to starting.
