Job Description: We are recruiting for a rare opportunity for an experienced Project Surveyor to join Gentoo’s Asset Property Investment team, on a 12 month fixed term basis, based from our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office. This is a great time to join us as we continue with our ambitious and exciting 5-year investment plan, delivering over £220m worth of planned improvements to our customer's homes. Working as part of the Asset Delivery team which is led by the Contracts Manager and includes a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Asset Delivery Co-ordinator, Project Managers, Project Surveyors and Client customer liaison officers. You will report directly to one of our Project Managers, Rhiannon, who has significant experience in the management and delivery of a large number of schemes across various Planned Investment programmes. A key part of this role is carrying out inspections whilst work is in progress and also on completion. This is to ensure the specification is being achieved and the quality of work is excellent. In addition to these inspections, you will collate a variety of information which will allow you to produce and formally issue Practical and Sectional Completion certificates. In the role of Project Surveyor, you will play a leading role and be responsible for ensuring the compliance to specification and scope of works is achieved on the schemes which your team has been allocated. You will manage the quality and adherence to the scheme specification, standard of workmanship, materials and products being used. As a Project Surveyor, you will liaise with a wide range of Gentoo teams including Planning and Building Surveying, Customer Voice, Health and Safety, Communications, Procurement, Leasehold, Risk and Insurance and Housing colleagues. Additionally, we have appointed the services of external Principal Designers (CDM and BSA), Consultants and Principal Contractors. You will ensure accurate record keeping of all associated and relevant documentation concerning the investment schemes that you are responsible for. The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo. What we are looking for: Experience of operating at a similar level/role within a diverse organisation. A full UK driving licence. ONC/HNC in construction or equivalent or considerable, relevant, and demonstrable experience. Undertake work in progress and post inspections, ensuring compliance with specification, scope, and regulations. Manage relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders. Experience of managing your own workload, planning quality inspections, and coordinating site visits to achieve targets. Experience in overseeing, managing, and signing off planned improvement works ensuring compliance to specification. Awareness of all regulatory certification and documentation required for compliance. Excellent communication skills and experience in delivering large scale planned investment contracts. Organised and structured, ensuring detailed inspections on time. Demonstrable knowledge of building construction, standards, compliance obligations, planning regulations, and leasehold legislation. Customer and solution-focused, driven to positively resolve issues. Ownership, pro-activeness, and confidence with client relationships and external contractors. Competent with Microsoft Office Packages. It would be desirable that you have: A full understanding of current CDM regulations, with an understanding of BSA regulations.
