The Role
Reporting directly to the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor, you will provide strategic academic leadership for the development of the Faculty’s student recruitment activity, as well as leading on associated commercial activities, in support of the University’s Strategy and supporting plans. You will work with Departmental marketing and student recruitment leads to ensure that a market-attractive and efficiently-delivered teaching portfolio – including DL and CPD courses – is promoted effectively to local, national and international markets, and to identify further opportunities for development. You will collaborate closely with the Director of Global Marketing & Student Recruitment and Head of Planning, your counterpart in the Faculty of Humanities and with the Associate PVC-International to ensure the integration and alignment of Faculty priorities and activity with AU Strategy. The overarching aim of the role is to drive the successful attraction, conversion and enrolment of a diverse and talented student body, growing student numbers across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs sustainably in the Faculty, consistent with the AU Strategy. As a member of the Faculty Executive Committee, you will be expected to make a wider contribution to leadership and management beyond your direct portfolio.
What you’ll do
* Lead the development and implementation of a Faculty-wide recruitment plan, aligning efforts with the University's strategic academic goals and student recruitment targets;
* Work closely with the Director of GMSR and the APVC-International to define key recruitment objectives and metrics for the Faculty;
* Provide strategic direction for Faculty-wide recruitment activity to efficiently target diverse student populations, including domestic (local and national), international, and under-represented groups;
* Work closely with Departmental student recruitment leads, to drive an approach to activity and capitalise on opportunities for collaboration;
* Oversee the creation and execution of integrated Faculty recruitment plans, working closely with GMSR colleagues to inform all marketing communications channels;
* Collaborate with Departmental student recruitment leads to develop targeted messaging that highlights the Faculty’s academic offer;
* Provide senior oversight of, and Faculty support for, AU recruitment events, including open and visit days, clearing, campus tours, webinars, and other internal and external engagement opportunities for prospective students;
* Provide Faculty level oversight and guidance on social media activity to ensure its consistent and effective use as a marketing and recruitment tool;
* Foster strategic relationships with high schools, colleges, alumni networks, and external recruitment partners to promote the Faculty’s programs and recruit a diverse student body ensuring coordination;
* Work closely with the Head of Planning, Director of GMSR and the Associate PVC-International to effectively utilize market data and insights from research, surveys, and student feedback to refine and improve recruitment efforts and to identify and target new recruitment opportunities;
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Faculty marketing and recruitment activity, using analytics to track key performance indicators such as application and conversion rates;
* Regularly report to Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions Committee on recruitment progress, challenges, and opportunities, including providing actionable recommendations based on data insights;
* Support and coordinate the development and delivery of contributions to outreach and other public-facing opportunities to showcase the University’s academic teaching offer (including events such as the Royal Welsh Show, Science Week, etc.);
* Explore opportunities for the development, marketing and delivery of associated commercial activity, including, for example, international and national summer schools, lifelong learning opportunities, novel CPD and Distance Learning courses;
* Keep abreast of sector developments and bring new ideas to the University;
* In collaboration with the other APVCs, embed the Welsh language within the Faculty be committed to the principles of promoting a bilingual culture within the University and understand how the Welsh Language Standards are applied within the responsibilities of the post;
* To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post;

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
Essential
1. An advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline;
2. A strong academic track record in a related discipline in the Faculty;
3. Demonstrable evidence of leadership and management within higher education;
4. Experience in leading successful collaborations;
5. Effective and persuasive communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff at all levels;
6. Ability to act decisively and with good judgement;
7. Ability to operate at a strategic level, whilst demonstrating a pragmatic approach to operational needs and priorities;
8. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B1*, or evidence to demonstrate an on-going commitment to learn Welsh to this level.
Desirable
1. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C1.*
