An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Children's Learning Disability Service for two highly motivated and flexible Nursing Associates to join our small and dedicated team of Nurses and Occupational Therapists.
The team offers highly specialist community-based assessments and interventions for children and young people aged between 5-18 years, with diagnoses of moderate to severe learning disabilities, who engage in difficult to manage behaviour within their home environments.
The successful candidates will have experience of working directly with individuals with a learning disability, and ideally with children and young people, and their families. They will be committed to offering flexible and person centered services in order to meet the complex needs of our service users. They will have confidence in managing complex and sometimes challenging situations that may arise within the course of our work, and will be excellent communicators.
A range of specialist assessments and interventions are offered by the team, inclusive of Functional Behaviour Assessments, Sensory Integration Assessments, Sleep Assessments, Relationships and Sex Education and Emotional Well-being Interventions.
The successful candidates will support Nursing and Occupational Therapy colleagues in the completion of specialist assessments and interventions, and may, with supervision and support, hold a small caseload of children for whom they will coordinate interventions.
The team work across Essex, Southend and Thurrock, with a nominal base in Colchester. The successful candidates will be able and willing to easily travel within these areas to meet the needs of service users, and will be expected to work in a range of diverse settings including service users' homes and school placements, as well as a range of other venues.
