Job responsibilities MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST JOB DESCRIPTION RECEPTION DESK Welcoming patients into the Surgery Checking them in on screen (or advising to use self- check in) Accepting samples and directing them to correct person/ collection Accepting deliveries/ informing relevant department. Accepting new registrations, completing relevant paperwork Accepting and booking travel immunisation APTS. Ensuring reception well stocked with sample pots/ forms/ registration packs. Answering telephone queries/appointments when necessary. (will only be necessary when only 3 or less members of staff on duty. PRESCRIPTIONS Processing of prescriptions received from pharmacies, online requests, and hand-written requests from prescription box. Processing appliance requests from Bullen/Ainsworth/Charter etc. Making sure all medications queries are passed to either a GP or medicines management for clarification. Directing hospital and other agency letters sent via the prescription email are passed to the relevant department. Answering the Telephone for queries/ accepting and entering patient requests onto ASKMYGP for patients without internet access. ASKMYGP Allocation of all requests to GP, FCP, Pharmacists whilst ASKMYGP is operational. Answering the Telephone for queries/ accepting and entering patient requests onto ASKMYGP for patients without internet access. Allocation of Urgent requests once ASKMYGP is closed, keeping duty Dr aware of urgent requests entered on the system. Answering all requests placed in reception area of ASKMYGP that can be dealt with by the Admin Team. SCAN TASKS Processing all tasks in both EMIS and Docman Routine Appointments first contact by letter, second contact by text or phone then complete. Urgent appointments patient to be contacted and booked in. All patient documents to be scanned to notes. Scanning to workflow to be processed when needed due to holiday cover. Answering the Telephone for queries/ accepting and entering patient requests onto ASKMYGP for patients without internet access. OTHER DUTIES Filing Summarising Making sure all printers (including Doctors rooms) have adequate paper blood forms and prescriptions. Photocopying general forms and medical records for the purpose of legal documents. Making up Registration Packs. PERSONAL EXTRA ROLE Change of Address Personal Details forms are actioned both on screen and in Paper Medical Records
