Do you have experience of working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment? Do you enjoy working in a detail-orientated and precision focused production role? If so, we want to hear from you!
Amber Therapeutics are looking for a diligent and hard-working Production Supervisor to join our growing team onsite at a custom-built facility in Harwell, Oxfordshire, with initial training (2-3 days per week) at our Welwyn Garden City site until the Harwell site opens in Q2 2025. Amber is a pioneering neuromodulation company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients through advanced medical technology. We specialize in the development of cutting-edge active implantable medical devices.
The Role
This is a hands-on role, involving supervision of a small production team within a medical device R&D environment. With responsibility for all stages of medical device manufacture to meet production targets, duties include planning and organising work, supervision & line management of the production team, routine sterilisation management, maintaining manufacturing equipment & systems, and customer repair requirement support. As the number of production personnel is small, you will be expected to contribute directly to production activities including product preparation, assembly, and packaging. Your role will also require collaboration with R&D, quality, and regulatory colleagues to support the overall business and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production scheduling ensuring that the required units are manufactured on time and to regulatory standards.
2. Material kitting (assembling parts, materials, and tools in preparation for manufacture).
3. Monitoring of materials’ shelf life for production and cleanroom consumables.
4. Product inspection and testing for all products.
5. Recognising and raising non-conformities with product and rework of non-conforming products.
6. Preparing, cleaning, and packing products for sterilisation.
7. Regular cleanroom maintenance and maintaining records.
8. Quality management duties including establishing and maintaining standards for quality control, assisting with audits, monitoring team & production activities.
9. Developing and conducting manufacturing related internal training and related documentation.
Skills & Experience
1. Experience of working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
2. Supervisory / management experience in a science, manufacturing or laboratory environment is advantageous.
3. Experience of working in a regulated industry beneficial.
4. Experience of electro-mechanical assemblies and medical devices is beneficial.
The successful candidate should have demonstrable practical skills, a high level of manual dexterity, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work successfully both within a team and independently. With a strong work ethic, you will have good interpersonal and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. Supervisory experience as well as knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies within a highly regulated environment (e.g. medical aerospace, defence) would be beneficial; however, we are open to considering candidates without this experience who are keen to learn new skills.
