Job summary he primary purpose of this role is to direct the day-to-day operational management of the local programme which covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire as part of the Thames Valley Vascular Network. The aim of local programme is to the arrange and offer screening appointments for men in their 65th year and patients within the local surveillance programme in line with the National Programme Standards/Guidance. The programme manager will oversee the work of the clerical officers and screening technicians. Duties will include: locating and managing relationships with suitable screening sites; organising staff rotas; clean up processes at the end of each year to identify men newly registered to GPs in the area who may have missed appointments; answering queries from clinicians, screening technicians, patients, members of the public and other interested parties; referring patients to vascular surgeons; extracting data from other notes and hospital systems; processing, tabulating, recording and storing data associated with screening, treatment and deaths, and producing reports; monitoring fail-safe systems; monitoring and reporting any serious adverse events and taking steps to ensure the safety of staff and patients; authorising expenditure up to specified limits and checking budget statements; ordering office and clinical consumables; overseeing archiving of data and reporting/presenting data to local and national teams on KPI's. Main duties of the job The post holder has considerable freedom to act in respect of managing the programme locally and will work independently and lead on a number of initiatives supporting the AAA screening programme, including giving direction and support to clinical research, promoting the benefits of the programme and seeking future funding opportunities.
