This is a mainly administrative role responsible for the scanning and read-coding of medical information into the patients' electronic healthcare record. The successful candidate will need to have excellent attention to detail, good IT skills, work well both in a team and under their own initiative, and have a positive can-do attitude. Working alongside 2 other coders, you will be responsible for the scanning and read-coding of relevant information into the patients' electronic healthcare records on EMIS Web & Docman, adhering to the practice coding policy. In addition, the post-holder will also support the administration team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice.
Main duties of the job
Accurately read-coding data on EMIS into the patient record. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately in patient records, completing any detailed actions, and forwarding documents on to other teams where required. Supporting with any incoming queries and online forms from patients.

We have a branch site located at Old Basing; however, the post holder would not be required to work solely from the branch location.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be on occasion a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
1. Accurately read-coding data on EMIS into the patient record.
2. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately in patient records, and completing any detailed actions.
3. Being aware of QOF requirements when doing the above.
4. Record sensitive information accurately (e.g., HIV status, child protection register, safeguarding issues).
5. File and store records as required.
6. Photocopy documentation as required.
7. Action all incoming emails, online queries, and mail in a timely manner.
8. Scanning of patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients' healthcare records.
9. Input data into the patients' healthcare records as necessary.
10. Processing of incoming and outgoing medical records.
11. Start to finish management of new patient registrations.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the clinical coder may be requested to:
1. Review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Admin Team Leader).
2. Partake in audit as required.
3. Book appointments.
4. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
5. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

Essential
* Previous experience in a similar role.
Desirable
* Experience with EMIS.
* Experience with DOCMAN 10.
* Experience working in Primary Care/GP Practice.
Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE grades A to C in English and Maths.
* IT Skills.
Desirable
* Clinical Coding qualification.
