Opcare have been providing the prosthetic and orthotic services in Cambridge since 2003 and have recently been re-awarded the contract. This role is an excellent opportunity to have a key influence within the service to advance and improve the delivery of service.
The department is newly based in a purpose-built facility just to the south of Addenbrookes hospital, a world-renowned hospital for trauma, cancer, and vascular care. The facility has consultant care, amputee rehab, and gait lab facilities. There is a complex mix of patients and extended practice clinics which provides a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads.
There is an on-site workshop with skilled staff providing a collaborative working approach to device design and manufacture.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Prosthetist who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career and be a part of our large and dynamic team in Cambridge. The role will involve working with a complex clinical case load, presenting exciting opportunities to develop clinical skillsets. The role will be instrumental in working with the prosthetic team, consisting of clinicians, technicians, and the wider NHS MDT to advance and improve the delivery of the service.
There are a wide variety of patients and extended practice clinics including, but not limited to:
* Primary care
* Paediatrics
* Veterans
Key Skills/Responsibilities:
Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will have include:
* Independent and autonomous responsibility for a caseload of patients
* Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the service
* Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs)
* Inputting on initiatives within the centre service development plan
* Ability to treat patients who use MPKs including C-legs, Geniums, and Rheo
* Experience with CADCAM rectification techniques
* Knowledge of high activity prosthetics to treat veteran patients
This role will provide an opportunity for an ambitious clinician to step into a position that will challenge them and provide opportunities to develop clinically across a range of practice areas.
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and busy team, and be supported with local, regional, and national training to develop their clinical skills to support the service. We aim to deliver a first-class service for users whilst applying the most advanced and exciting clinical and technical solutions available to patients.
Qualifications:
Either:
* HND Orthotics
* BSc Orthotics
Must also be fully HCPC Registered.
