We are seeking an Apprentice Early Years Practitioner to join our nursery, to provide play opportunities within an environment that supports all learning and development whilst providing care to children aged from birth to five years old; responsible to manager and proprietors.

18-20 years old, 8.00am - 6.00pm, four days a week. Rate of pay will be £8.60, rising to £10 per hour on 1st April. 18 years and under, either 9-6pm or 8-5pm with hour for lunch. Rate of pay is £6.40 per hour, rising to £7.55 per hour on the 1st April.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* To work independently and as part of a team when providing input into the daily planning and provision for the children within your care.
* To ensure that our observations, Planning and assessment are done and that they are all completed and ready to be approved by a room leader or senior member of staff.
* To ensure that all communication is age and developmentally appropriate and comes from a place of positivity when speaking with children.
* To support practitioners in the provision of high-quality experiences for the children within your care.
* To model positive behaviour and communication enabling children to understand the
expected behaviour within the setting.
* To communicate effectively when conversing with parents / carers and other staff members, taking direction and support from other practitioners.
* To support other practitioners in the provision of an environment that promotes learning and development, that is hazard free, with high standards of hygiene whilst offering good quality play opportunities within emotionally secure surroundings.
* To identify children’s needs and interests and ensure that these a paramount within our practice.
* To support the provisions commitment to personal and professional development, using supervision meetings to support training and development.
* To provide practical support when preparing and clearing up after meal times.
* To develop a working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory guidance and Framework; to comply with these documents and legislation as enforced by OFSTED.
* To support staff with any children under SEND.
* To work in line with Kenleys Equality and Diversity Policy whilst promoting positive behaviour and attitudes.
* To undertake such duties as assigned by the room leader and senior practitioners.
* To ensure that all the children are accounted for when the room is vacated or when vacating the garden, during working hours.
* To follow and continue the curiosity approach, ensuring that all staff are aware of what to do and how we expect them to engage with the children.

* Support babies and young children through a range of transitions.e.g moving onto school, moving house or the birth of a sibling
* Recognise when a child is in danger, at risk of serious harm or abuse and explain the procedures to be followed to protect them. Types of abuse including: domestic, neglect, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
* Identify risks and hazards in the work setting and during off site visits.relating to both children and staff
* Demonstrate skills and understanding for the prevention and control of infection, including hand washing, food preparation and hygiene, dealing with spillages safely, safe disposal of waste, using correct personal protective equipment.
* Use equipment, furniture and materials safely, following the manufacturers’ instructions and setting’s requirements.
* Encourage children to be aware of personal safety and the safety of others and develop personal hygiene practices (including oral hygiene).
