Health and Safety Officer - The Role: The role of the Health & Safety Officer is to prevent accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses in the workplace. They have a large number of duties to ensure that the workplace maintains high standards of Health & Safety. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety and Business Continuity, the Health and Safety Officer will use their knowledge and skills to promote a positive health and safety culture in the workplace. They will ensure that employees comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to. They will also plan, implement, monitor and review protective and preventative safety measures. Health and Safety Officer - Key Responsibilities: - To assist the managers with H&S audits and inspections of all the various locations both in London and Manchester, conducting risk assessments, reviewing fire documents, fire arrangements, and all other health and safety compliance documents - To assist in the collation and monitoring of accident and near-miss data - To support accident and near-miss investigations, across sites - To ensure reporting compliance is adhered to, learning opportunities are identified and preventative action is taken - To assist managers in implementing all security measures on the various sites - Help managers with emergency preparedness, conduct regular drills and ensure all employees and members are familiar with emergency protocols Health and Safety Officer - You: - The ideal candidate will be educated to GSCE level with grade A-C/4-9 in Maths & English or equivalent - You may also be IOSH qualified, but this is not essential - You should have previous experience in a compliance officer role within a similar sector, including conducting site visits, risk assessments and action plans - Familiarity with HSE and other relevant Health & Safety regulations is essential - You must be able to manage your time and workload effectively - You should also be confident working independently with limited supervision - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are essential - The ability to build relationships and work across departments Health and Safety Officer - Benefits: - 21 days paid holiday per year which increases with length of service.
