RSK Land Development and Engineering (LDE) Ltd, part of the RSK Group of companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hydrologist to join our growing team based in Coventry, UK.
RSK LDE provides a complete engineering design service for residential and commercial development projects, both pre and post planning. RSK LDE Ltd was formed in 2003 after a number of specialist design engineers joined RSK in order to strengthen its existing in-house capabilities. It now has a highly experienced team made up of professional civil and structural engineering staff with many years experience in the assessment, design and construction of major development projects. LDE's engineers typically evaluate the land use constraints in support of the site acquisition and planning process. This work would then be continued into detail design, obtaining statutory approvals, procuring and supervising the site infrastructure and remediation projects.
Role and Responsibilities:
To support and strengthen RSK Land & Development Engineering Ltd (LDE) in hydrology including undertaking Flood Risk Assessments, concept and detail drainage designs, Environmental Impact Assessment chapters on hydrology and sustainable engineering solutions to provide water quality improvements.
1. Development of Flood Risk Assessment, EIA and outline drainage assessment reports.
2. Understand role within hydrology team including budgets and timescales available for undertaking required works.
3. To support with incoming enquiries, tenders, details and projects in accordance with LDE QA procedures.
4. Maintain and develop technical capability through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including mentoring and guiding junior staff.
5. Financial management of costs on hydrology projects are managed within agreed fee budgets.
6. Keep up to date with changes in legislation, best practice and relevant policies.
7. Understand the required programme, co-ordination, communication and LDE involvement within project to ensure satisfactory delivery of a project.
8. Maintain and develop technical or management capability through CPD, attending internal and external seminars regularly.
9. Attend training seminars when relevant and present key points to colleagues.
10. Undertake calculations and designs using an efficient and rationalised process to the latest design standards.
11. Assist in the issue of project documents (email, extra-net and postal).
12. Be aware of project deadlines and allocated time to work items.
13. Senior staff should use their experience to advise and mentor more junior members of the team.
Key Skills:
1. Member or working towards membership of relevant Institute (CIWEM).
2. Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively.
3. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with the design team and external clients, both verbally and in writing.
5. Effective communication skills.
6. Experienced in use of:
* Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Power Point.
* FEH, WINFAP FEH, Flood modeller, TuFLOW, HEC-RAS and other flood modelling software.
* AutoCAD and WinDES.
* Awareness of ground modelling software such as PDS.
