Description:
Experienced, proactive, and financially astute Senior Project Engineer required to ensure the on-time, within-budget project delivery of a range of engineering projects throughout the UK.
Our client is part of a multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70 staff in over 80 countries and is recognized as a market leader in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Senior Project Engineer to complement their established and professional team.
Based near Rotherham, the successful candidate will support the team of project managers and engineers in the delivery of end-to-end projects (typically, £K - £3M), which includes feasibility studies, estimates, and proposals for both internal projects and third-party sales across all business areas in the UK & Ireland.
Responsible for the safe delivery of approved engineering projects to meet the needs of the business, you will ensure that project design/costs developed are competitive and fit for purpose to support the business in delivering the required returns, winning new third-party sales, and balancing SHEQ requirements.
Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and reporting project risks and ensuring that appropriate project strategies are supported and implemented – including variation management to increase sales and limit/control supplier and contractor variations as they arise.
Other duties include planning and coordinating engineering resources (internal & external) to execute projects, developing Project Proposals to achieve financial approval for project budgets, and ensuring that contractors demonstrate ownership and understanding of the SHEQ strategy and objectives, complying with applicable statutory requirements, company policies, and procedures.
With excellent communication skills at all levels, you will build effective relationships with key customers and suppliers to ensure that the department is customer-focused and responsive. You will manage all aspects of site construction activities, such as contractor control, permit to work, working at height, plant installations, mechanical and electrical installations, testing, and commissioning, including pressure testing, acceptance, documentation in the form of as-built data, and health and safety documentation.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years of practical industrial experience gained in a relevant engineering environment.
Whilst an IOSH/NEBOSH certificate will prove advantageous, it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and possess previous project engineering experience gained in either contracting or operating company environments, including proposals, tendering, sub-contract activity, and financial/cost management experience, with a proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects on time, cost, and to appropriate SHEQ standards.
