Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Dietitian to join the Adult Dietetic department at Newcastle Hospitals. You will work in a supportive team based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and have the opportunity to assess, plan and implement care in a range of clinical areas. This will include general medicine, older peoples medicine, surgery and general outpatients. Newcastle Hospitals is a leading provider of multiple Regional Specialisms including cystic fibrosis, allergy, oesophagogastric sugery, Gastroenterology and critical care, meaning there is also opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills through dedicated training in these specialist areas.
The Post Holder Will Be Required To
* Deliver a high quality dietetic service to patients in the acute and outpatient settings
* Act as a source of expertise in nutrition support (Oral and Enteral feeding)
* Deliver education and training to other hospital staff and to patient groups
* Participate in team and multi-disciplinary audit and research

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Deliver a comprehensive and effective clinical nutrition and dietetic service to patients in acute hospitals/clinics
* Provide dietetic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management in the clinical setting.
* Act as a source of expertise in nutrition support and dietetics to patients, consultant medical staff, other health care professionals, carers and relatives.
* Deliver education and training to other hospital staff and to patient groups.
* Participate in team and multi-disciplinary audit and research.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
* Health and Care Professions Council registered Dietitian
* Degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition Degree plus Post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics
* Car driver with clean license if relevant to role

* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Essential criteria
* Broad general knowledge of basic clinical dietetics with insight into specialist areas
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Evidence of developing knowledge in order to provide cover for specialist dietitians without supervision
* Understands professional standards and Code of Conduct as set out by the Health and Care Professions Council
