Information Desk/ Meet and Greet Volunteer, positions available at Westmorland General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital.
Volunteers play a very important role in the NHS. Working in a range of settings and providing a variety of services alongside paid staff, volunteers are often a key part of patient services.
Main duties of the job
Main purpose of role:
To assist in the provision of a welcoming and accommodating hospital environment.
Main tasks/overview of responsibilities:
1. To provide guidance and wayfinding to patients, visitors and staff around the main hospital site.
2. To assist with the transportation of patients to and from appointments across the hospital site.
3. To assist patients in obtaining basic information about the hospital and their appointment.
4. To assist in the hospital environment ensuring it’s equipped to accommodate patients and visitors.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery.
