The School of Applied Sciences at UWE Bristol is one of the largest education centres for healthcare science in the UK. Three BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science Practitioner degree apprenticeship programmes are offered, including Physiological Sciences, Clinical Engineering and Medical Physics Technology.
Neurophysiology is one of three specialisms delivered as part of the Physiological Sciences programme, the other two being Cardiac Physiology and Respiratory and Sleep Physiology. We also deliver three commissioned programmes: a PGCert in Clinical Echocardiography, a PGCert in Sleep Medicine and a Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science.
We have a part-time (0.4FTE) permanent Senior Lecturer role which will focus on delivering excellence in teaching and academic support to students on the Neurophysiology programme. Ideally, you’ll have significant clinical experience in neurophysiology.
Working within a committed and enthusiastic team, you’ll support students on the Neurophysiology specialist pathway primarily, by leading modules, contributing to teaching, learning and assessment, supervising final year research projects and reviewing evidence of work-based competency. You’ll also contribute to programme development and there will be opportunities to engage in research.
You will have a PhD in a subject relevant to this post, or have a relevant master’s qualification with significant professional practice. We are looking for candidates with significant clinical experience in neurophysiology. You can demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching related to neurophysiology. Experience of work-based/apprenticeship training in healthcare science would be an advantage.
We are looking for someone who aligns to the UWE values. You can demonstrate your experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. You can further demonstrate how you keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
You will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor. Candidates will be expected to undertake the PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE unless already obtained. We provide staff development funds to support personal and subject-related training for academic staff.
