The Role
We are looking to recruit a Maternity Care Assistant - (Nursery Nurse) to join Neonatal Unit at University Hospital Wishaw!
The Maternity Care Assistant will act as a member of the care team under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives.
The successful candidate will provide support and evidenced based advice to women and their families in the antenatal and postnatal period, either in the hospital setting or in the community, by assisting in the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of care.
This will be achieved by direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered midwife.
The maternity care assistant will be expected to perform specific care tasks once he/she has completed a recognised formal training programme and assessment.
The post holder will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the hospital/outreach clinic/home environment in line with local and divisional policies.
The successful candidate will participate in Practice development programmes as required.

What we'll need you to bring
8. Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
9. Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
10. Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
11. Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
12. Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
13. Time management, planning and organisational skills.
14. Working knowledge of basic information technology.
15. Ability to work individually or as part of a team
16. Ability to learn and develop new skills and maintain a record of learning.
It would be great if you also had
17. SNNEB qualification or approved SVQ/HNC training programme
18. Commitment to ongoing personal development
19. Previous experience in a neonatal setting
20. Ability to work unsupervised
21. Ability to perform tasks efficiently and effectively within a busy environment
22. Experience of Infant Feeding
