Quantity Surveyor (Building Consultancy) – Hazel Grove, Stockport
Our client was founded in 2003 as a building consultancy comprising of chartered building surveyors providing surveying services to key clients predominantly within the education sector. The consultancy has grown into a multi-disciplinary practice offering end to end services with every member of the design team in-house allowing for greater control for our client’s projects over a wide range of services across several sectors.
We are seeking an ambitious and driven candidate who can drive projects from inception through to completion and should preferably have experience of a range of contracts including JCT. Candidates must also be customer focused and have excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Candidates will have a relevant degree and a technical background appropriate to the core services that our client offers with skills to work across a range of sectors including notably the education sector.
Main Responsibilities
1. Lead on commercial deliverables throughout the lifecycle of projects
2. Contract administration and manage change through the contract
3. Ensure cost control is monitored and maintained throughout all functions (design, procurement and delivery)
4. Prepare subcontract tender packages, carry out comparisons and place relevant orders
5. Provide monthly cost & value forecasts
Candidate Specification
1. Formal Q.S Qualification
2. Experience in a similar role from a design and build background
3. Good level of QS experience
4. Experience in estimating and procurement
5. Flexibility to travel when required
6. Knowledge of construction contracts including preliminaries and JCT’s
7. Experience in the tender and target cost process and the review of such documents
8. Strong IT skills with experience of excel and MS Office
9. Full clean UK driving license
