Apprentice Audit and Assurance Specialist - ASW Assurance
Job summary
Internal audit is an in-house team with the Director of Audit and Assurance Services reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and to the Audit Committee, which is a sub-committee of the Board of Directors. Internal audit has a wide remit, covering both financial and non-financial systems and activities of the Trust.
ASW Assurance delivers internal audit, counter fraud and consultancy services to healthcare organisations including acute, mental health and foundation trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and social enterprises.
Main duties of the job
The position represents an opportunity to learn and develop internal audit and finance skills within the NHS whilst studying for a professional qualification. The role requires a high level of integrity, objectivity and enthusiasm.
The post holder will be supported through an agreed training programme such as the Institute of Internal Auditors. The training programme supports the development of the post holder so that upon successful completion of the training contract, competencies have been developed allowing transfer onto the Band 4 Audit and Assurance Specialist role.
You will contribute to the achievement of ASW Assurance's operational audit plans by assisting with internal audit assignments, analysing data and writing reports. You will be required to work across all ASW Assurance client sites.
The post holder will undertake and manage an individual, long-term programme of professional training and passing exams. The post holder will be released for study for 7.5 hours a week of their time and be expected to undertake 8 to 10 hours of study weekly.
Once qualified, the apprentice may be supported to gain employment within the service, or within the wider health and care sector. If appointed as an Internal Audit and Assurance Specialist, they will move onto the first point of the Band 4 pay scale in accordance with the Trusts' recruitment policy.
