With a strong reputation for excellence and innovation, they are looking for an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to manage a key ledger and play a vital role in ensuring the financial health of the business. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee a £3-4 million sales ledger, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all invoices and payments. Chase outstanding debts weekly, ensuring effective communication with clients to resolve payment issues swiftly. Prioritise and manage problematic accounts, collaborating closely with commercial and project teams to resolve disputes and ensure prompt payment. Raise retention invoices in line with contract requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project timelines. Issue invoices based on payment certificates, ensuring all documentation is accurate and reconciled with client agreements. Coordinate month-end billing processes, ensuring all invoices are raised and submitted within required deadlines. Monitor and maintain Purchase Order balances, ensuring no PO is exceeded without authorisation and that billing aligns with approved budgets. Prepare regular reports for Directors, providing clear visibility of cash collection performance, aged debt, and any emerging risks. Work closely with commercial managers, project teams, and finance colleagues to ensure seamless communication between departments and accurate financial reporting. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience as a Credit Controller within the construction, fit-out, or related sectors is essential. Strong understanding of construction contracts, applications for payment, retention processes, and payment certificates. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Proficient in finance systems and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports for senior management. A proactive, solutions-focused approach to resolving queries and disputes.
