GSL Education are seeking dedicated and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across schools in Portsmouth. This role is ideal for graduates or those looking to become teachers in the future, offering flexible working options where you can choose the days you wish to work. Full-time work (5 days per week) is available if needed. As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will oversee the learning of students in the absence of their usual teacher. You will ensure that students remain engaged with pre-set work, manage classroom behaviour, and support their overall development during their time in the classroom. What you have to do as a Cover Supervisor (CS): Supervise classes during teacher absences and ensure students stay on task with the provided work. Deliver pre-planned lessons while ensuring students understand and engage with the content. Ensure students follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies at all times. Assist students individually or in small groups, providing additional support where needed. Report any concerns or issues to senior staff, ensuring smooth transitions between lessons. Monitor student behaviour, maintaining discipline and promoting a positive learning environment. Track students’ progress and share feedback with teachers when necessary. Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources for lessons. Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere to engage students effectively in their learning. What we need from a Cover Supervisor (CS): Experience working with children or in an educational setting as a Cover Supervisor is preferred. A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field. CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare is beneficial but not mandatory. Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain order in a classroom. Good communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents. A proactive and adaptable approach to working in different classroom settings.
