We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to apply for the position of Departmental Manager/Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, to manage the Ophthalmology Outpatients department at the Royal Derby and Florence Nightingale hospitals.
You will lead the team, offer expert clinical advice and manage services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective, and compassionate care. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.
You will need to be a flexible manager with a proven track record of leadership skills allowing you to empower and support your team. Previous managerial experience is an essential criteria for this post, as is experience working within the Ophthalmology speciality. Post Registration qualifications and teaching/presenting experience is advantageous as is the further development of the Unit and the staff.
You will take overall responsibility and be accountable for all delegated nursing care within the clinical environment and be accountable for patient, public and staff experience.
You will need to liaise cross-site with the staff at Queens Hospital Burton and may be required to travel cross-site for meetings on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the day to day management of the Ophthalmology Outpatients departments, reporting directly to the Matron.
2. Management of clinics including scheduling and clinician allocation and waiting times.
3. Takes overall responsibility and is accountable for all delegated nursing care within the clinical environment.
4. Accountable for patient, public and staff experience.
5. Constant liaison with the Clinicians and Operational team, working cross-site where necessary.
6. Development and expansion of the services delivered.
7. Staff development.
