Berkshire Talent Partnership are proud to be working with a leading energy infrastructure client. This growing business are actively constructing some of the UK's largest energy schemes right now. Due to forthcoming projects, they’re expanding their team and hiring for a Construction Manager, with a background on large civil projects, this role will lead all activities on a 10+hectare site of national significance in the North West of England.
Reporting to the Group Construction Manager, our client is looking to appoint a Construction Manager for a large infrastructure scheme based in the Northwest of England. This role will manage the construction delivery of energy project with a significant amount of Heavy Civil engineering works on the project.
The role is to manage and coordinate all construction site works to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time and on budget. With the following responsibilities:
* Oversee all works construction, ensuring compliance with building and safety regulations.
* Ensure that, where required, a Construction Phase Plan is prepared complied with.
* Conduct and record weekly site health and safety inspections.
* Chair weekly site safety meetings with all sub-contractors
* Ensure that contractors are appointed in accordance with the company procurement procedures.
* Prepare a site safety organisational structure showing the persons responsible for safety duties.
* Arrange for the display of appropriate health and safety notices and signs in prominent places and ensure that all staff and sub-contractors, as appropriate, are made aware of them at an induction briefing.
* Submit monthly reports detailing statistical data relating to any accidents or incidents and any near misses that have occurred on the site.
* Comply with the requirements of Group health and safety policy
* As far as is reasonably practicable, stop any person under their control from working unsafely and ensure all work complies with the health and safety plan and relevant legislation.
* Ensure that only authorised personnel are put to work, keeping records of operative’s qualifications, expiry dates and exclusions.
* Ensure personnel are properly trained in the use of personal protective equipment which is adequate for the task being undertaken.
The successful candidate will
* Beng Civil Engineering Degree, HND Civil Engineering, HNC or related qualification in construction
* Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing, and best practice developed working on large projects
* Experience in working on large energy infrastructure projects with capex value of £200m and above
* Knowledge and understanding of working to and implementing construction contracts.
* Ability to use initiative based on engineering and practical experience.
* Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works but also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD).
