Senior Garment Production Technician

Job Description:
This role requires a mature, enthusiastic, hardworking, methodical individual who will lead and be responsible for the technical health and lifecycle of all products that go through to bulk production. Working within the Production Team, this role requires collaboration with the Product Development Technical Team and the Creative and Design Teams.
This is a pivotal role and would suit someone with a rounded experience working in both FF and CMT processes, with a clear understanding of garment construction and production methods.
A concise knowledge of fabric testing requirements across the industry would be highly beneficial.
The central responsibilities of this role revolve around ensuring the on time sealing of all styles, ensuring these are correct to the design and technical specifications, and launched both for PPS and bulk production in an efficient and timely manner and in line with the tech CP and production planning.
The role requires a candidate who will communicate in an informative, clear and concise manner, ensuring good relations are maintained throughout and working with all to resolve technical issues and aid best production outcomes and a timely delivery of bulk product. A strong foundation in managing knitwear, denim and tailoring categories is required.
Key roles and responsibilities:
* To check technical packs and graded measurements against the SMS ahead of pre-production sample launch.
* To launch PPS as per the seasonal planning and ensure that these dates are met.
* To ensure that PP packs are launched with clear tech packs, paper patterns (when required), and all items needed to make the PPS are provided, including fabrics and samples, to support the PPS being achieved in a timely fashion and in line with the critical path.
* Ensure all PPS returned are measured and checked against the specification sheet ahead of PP fittings. To review the internals and ensure the PP has been made as required.
* To plan and manage weekly PPS fittings in line with the other GTs to consolidate fittings and ensure these happen once weekly.
* Lead all production fittings, and in collaboration with the creative and production pattern teams, agree the amendments required in both pattern and construction and to take responsibility for ensuring these are actioned and correct fit notes are taken.
* Relay and make clear any changes and improvements to the supplier when launching bulk production, ensuring that updated fit notes, specification sheets and tech packs are issued.
* Ensure the PPS is returned to the supplier with the above tech packs and ensure a tracking system is in place to monitor progress of any shipments to ensure the supplier receives this in a timely manner.
* To add images/ action illustrations to support any changes to construction if required.
* To update the Tech CP once PP comments are written and issued to factory.
* To take ownership of the technical aspects of production, from PP approval to investigations and resolutions of production issues at factory.
* To review measurements and QC of Size sets and give supplier approval to ship.
* Ensure the HOD, Production Planner and Logistics team are made aware of any issues that will affect the XF date on any product where there are production issues or where the size set is not approved.
* To review any issues highlighted in any external QC reports and advise how to best resolve them.
* To build strong relationships with all manufacturers, reacting effectively if a technical issue is raised and visiting the supplier, when necessary, to find resolutions.
* To attend all SMS handovers to gain an understanding of the new season design & fit ethic and build a history of changes behind each style to help with PP approval during Production.
* Respond to product queries, including complaints to remedy issues or improve upon for future collections.
* Lead seasonal fit and grading reviews with the wider teams and action feedback where required.
* Monitor and record supplier performance and feed back to the wider team on where issues need highlighting.
* Manage size standards for all product categories, establishing and maintaining fit and size standards for the brand in line with the senior pattern team and grader.
* Work with internal tech teams to create internal and external manuals and documents for all process relating to product construction, in alignment with Erdem sensibilities and requirements.
* Introduce product testing systems and manage these for the department.
* To Review anomalies within any external QC reports & authorise shipments (where applicable).
* Sign Off of relevant invoices relating to area (pattern grading, fittings).
Requirements:
* Must come from a similar role, with 3-5 years’ experience working with luxury products and across a broad range of product categories.
* Needs to be highly detail oriented and well organized. The ideal candidate must be capable of working unsupervised in a fast-paced environment and is required to have strong common-sense abilities and a can-do attitude and be adept at working within a team environment.
* A proven track record of confidently leading fitting sessions from Prototype stage through to Pre-Production approval to bulk.
* A solid knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, lay plans and costings is essential.
* Must be able to work well within the wider Erdem team, be a constructive lead in the garment tech team and be able to guide junior members in their roles and be able to delegate to achieve deadlines.
* Illustrator/CAD experience is required.
