JOB DESCRIPTION
ASSISTANT RANGER
LOCATION: Wimbleball
DURATION: Permanent
HOURS: Part time (24 hours per week), including weekends, Bank Holidays, and evenings
SALARY: £25,584 pro rata
REPORT TO: Ranger (as per applicable site)
Purpose of the role:
As part of the Trust’s Ranger Team, you will assist with the delivery of safe public access and positive, informative visitor experiences while caring for the environment and maintaining the facilities and grounds at the above named location(s).
Responsibilities:
1. Champion and contribute to our vision - healthy lakes, landscapes and lives.
2. Support the ranger team in delivering safe public access.
3. Work closely with the environment team to deliver habitat work plans and conservation efforts.
4. Provide excellent customer service to visitors and colleagues.
5. Assist in the maintenance of the locations, ensuring high standards.
6. Develop relationships with stakeholders and visitors, promoting responsible behavior.
7. Support compliance with statutory duties and safety procedures.
8. Manage and supervise volunteers.
9. Deliver education sessions as requested.
10. Take responsibility for visitor safety and risk assessments.
11. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Trust.

Essential Criteria:
* Practical outdoor manual labor.
* Safe use of hand tools and power tools.
* High-quality customer service.
* Dynamic risk assessment.
* Experience in countryside management.
Desirable Criteria:
* Volunteer training.
* Conflict resolution skills.
* Social media and promotional skills.
Qualifications:
* Driving licence.
* Tractor operator and trailer towing qualifications.
* Chainsaw and strimmer qualifications.
