Main Responsibilities
The Portfolio Governance Reporting Lead is accountable for driving the reporting and insights function for the entire change portfolio. Ensuring executive leadership, the Board, Group, and Regulators receive comprehensive, data-driven insights that support informed and strategic decision-making. By consolidating, analysing, and interpreting key portfolio data, the role transforms information into actionable intelligence, ensuring transparency, risk awareness, and alignment with organisational priorities.
* Reporting excellence - oversee the creation, preparation, and delivery of high-quality portfolio reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with strategic priorities
* Insight generation and decision enablement - analyse and interpret complex portfolio data eg delivery, financials, risks, issues, dependencies, resource and outcomes information - providing executives with clear, strategic insights that enhance decision-making and optimise portfolio performance
* Independently lead the end-to-end reporting process for all executive forum activities, including preparation, review cycles, and final submissions, ensuring discussions are strategically focused on priorities and result in actionable, high-impact decisions that advance portfolio objectives
* Data Integrity & Strategic Alignment - Embed best practices in data validation, reporting cadence, and governance structures to ensure reporting is reliable, relevant, and directly contributes to the successful execution of strategic priorities
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence, solving challenges, and making decisions.
* Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the change portfolio, facilitating proactive communication and alignment which supports governance processes
* Drive the continuous improvement of the portfolio reporting process, tooling, and standards to enhance efficiency, ensure accuracy, and maximise strategic value for executive decision-making
* Monitor and assess portfolio performance trends, identifying systemic risks, execution challenges, and emerging opportunities. Distil key issues and themes into concise executive narratives, ensuring leadership can quickly assess portfolio health, prioritise interventions, and drive informed strategic decisions
* Champion a culture of transparency and accountability by ensuring governance forums, reporting mechanisms, and decision frameworks enable leaders to act with confidence, drive performance, and uphold strategic integrity across the portfolio
Ideal Candidate
The role holder will have extensive experience in leading portfolio reporting and insights for large, complex change portfolios. They will have a proven track record of transforming complex data into strategic insights that inform executive decision-making and drive portfolio performance. Their expertise will include driving the end-to-end reporting processes, ensuring data integrity, and aligning reporting outputs with organisational priorities. Additionally, they will have experience engaging with senior stakeholders, facilitating governance forums, and embedding best practices to enhance the effectiveness of portfolio reporting and insights.
* Extensive experience within a Portfolio Management Office (PMO) environment, specifically crafting and delivering compelling reports, dashboards and presentations tailored for senior leadership, balancing detail with strategic focus
* Professional certification and experience across both Waterfall and Agile methodologies and the ways in which finance and resource management may vary across the two.
* Strong ability to align the portfolio with the broader business strategy, ensuring projects deliver maximum strategic value
* Proven track record of influencing senior executives and facilitating alignment across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
* Ability to work independently, take initiative, solve problems, and take decisions.
* Team Player. Enjoys collaborating with, learning from, and guiding others.
* Skilled in managing time effectively, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Proactive, forward looking, flexible attitude with the ability to challenge constructively
* Attention to detail and an organised approach to work
* Ability to see the bigger picture and anticipate future needs or risks, guiding the portfolio in a direction
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, and present complex issues clearly, in order to influence stakeholders at all levels
* Experienced user of enterprise portfolio management tools, JIRA, Confluence, Teams, SharePoint, Excel and Power Point.
* Problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset, identifying issues and driving resolutions to conclusion with minimal management support
* Strong understanding of Change risk, governance and controls in a regulated environment
