Exciting Hybrid Opportunity

West Ashtead Primary Academy is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team in a unique hybrid role that combines the responsibilities of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, a Learning Support Assistant and a Midday Supervisor. This position offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the educational and pastoral well-being of our pupils.

About the Role
This is a varied role where you will be responsible for supporting teaching and learning as well as supervising pupils at lunchtime.
Key Responsibilities: ●HLTA Support:
○ Plan and prepare lessons with teachers, contributing to all stages of the planning cycle.
○ Develop and prepare resources for learning activities.
○ Teach whole classes under an agreed system of supervision (HLTA).○ Provide feedback to teachers and pupils on lesson content, pupil responses, and behavior.
○ Motivate and progress pupils’ learning.
○ Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
○ Organise and manage the learning environment and resources.
○ Assess pupil progress and modify methods to meet individual needs.
○ Contribute to observation and assessment programs.
○ Assist teachers in offering mentoring support to other teaching assistants (HLTA)
• Midday Supervision:
○ Supervise pupils in the dining hall, playground, and classrooms during the midday break.
○ Ensure pupils wash hands before eating and tidy up after themselves.
○ Manage pupils who are sick and clean up any mess.
○ Organise games and play activities for pupils.
○ Report difficult pupils or behaviour to the Lead Midday Supervisor.
○ Administer first aid
• Learning Support Assistant Duties:
○ Assist with the care and well-being of pupils, including dressing and toileting.
○ Support pupils' development and promote independence.
○ Assist in the planning, preparation, and supervision of class activities.
○ Work with small groups of pupils.
○ Take charge of outdoor play activities.
○ Prepare classrooms and activity areas.
○ Maintain and clean classroom equipment.
○ Liaise with parents and other professionals to support pupils.
○ Contribute to reviews of pupils' progress.
○ Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
○ Maintain accurate records of pupils’ work and achievements.
○ Promote the school's policies and ethos and positive pupil behavior
Essential Requirements:
● Meet HLTA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
● Minimum of two years’ experience working with children in an educational setting.
● Knowledge of the English and Maths curriculum.
● Understanding of behavior management and safeguarding procedures.
● Effective oral and written communication skills.● Excellent interpersonal skills.
● Good organizational and time management skills.
● Sound IT skills.
● Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
● Ability to supervise pupils effectively.
● Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
● Ability to work in partnership with parents and teachers.
● Willingness to attend school training sessions.
● Patience, calmness, and a firm but fair approach to discipline.
● A commitment to the principles of equal opportunity.
Desirable:
● First aid experience (training can be arranged).
● Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.
● Experience of supporting children in the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
