About the job: The Program Officer for Climate Change and Health will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies that address the intersection of climate change and health. This position will work closely with partners to assess climate-health vulnerabilities and impacts to design solutions; scale up investments to build high-quality, climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems; and build and deepen partnerships at global, regional, and country levels to enhance and amplify these efforts. This role will focus on addressing the intersection of climate change and health. The position reports to the Chief of Asia, Middle East and Europe (AMEE). Key Responsibilities: Strategy and Partnerships: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to address climate-related health challenges. Identify and build strategic partnerships with governmental, non-governmental, private sector, multilateral and bilateral development institutions, and other key stakeholders to enhance the impact of climate change and health programs. Conduct landscape analysis to identify new focus areas and opportunities for investment and collaboration. Establish and maintain relationships with governmental, non-governmental, and private sector partners to support climate and health initiatives. Identify and pursue funding opportunities from various sources, including traditional and alternative financing mechanisms. Develop proposals and coordinate with financial institutions to secure resources for climate and health projects. Program Planning and Management: Developing a pipeline of climate smart and resilient projects involving the private sector, and further strengthening the PATH’s program of the Accelerator for Resilience in Climate and Health (ARCH). Coordinate with health authorities, partners and communities to implement climate-health action plans, including training, monitoring, and capacity-building activities. Prepare detailed program reports for donors and stakeholders. Collaboration with Public and Private Sector: Assess climate-health vulnerabilities and impacts, identify priority actions and solutions. Build a shared understanding and program of climate-health investments with partners. Identify potential initiatives worthy of investment via PATH Implement action plans to prioritize and drive climate and health commitments. Required Skills and Experience: Master’s degree in public health, environmental health, climate science, or a related field preferred plus a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Strong understanding of climate change impacts on health and familiarity with global health financing mechanisms. Skilled in successfully working with geographically dispersed teams and working in a multicultural environment. Experience working with international multilateral organizations is preferred. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize deadlines and work in fast-moving environments and teams, while maintaining accuracy. Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and interpretation. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive issues, and to build and maintain positive and constructive relationships with internal and external partners. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and diverse team environment.
