Job Description
The Role
In the role of National Transport Manager, you will be responsible for the entire distribution operation, organising the safe and efficient delivery of goods, via own fleet or 3rd party and with the aim of enhancing customer service, fleet efficiency and food safety.
* Organise and oversee the running of the entire transport department both in London and the regional hubs.
* Support the route planning function utilising TMS and ensuring routes planned are within weight limit and time constraints.
* Track and monitor KPI's including OTIF score by route, driver and customer, taking appropriate action where required
* Monitor vehicle temperature control and ensure the cold chain is maintained at all times
* Ensure all deliveries have completed POD and any discrepancies are investigated.
* Responsibility for Operators licence for all vehicle's over 3.5 tonne
* Monitor and manage the budget for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
* Manage relationship with vehicle contractors to ensure smooth running of operation and vehicle downtime is minimised.
* Regular resource planning including strategy for seasonal peaks and new business opportunities.
* Maintain communication between the distribution and warehouse teams and wider business to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
* Motivate and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met.
The Candidate
The successful candidate for the National Transport Manager position will possess:
* A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain Background - Essential.
* A CPC National / International qualification, demonstrating your deep understanding of transportation regulations - Essential.
* 3+ years Transport management experience within a Food / FMCG / Temperature controlled or 3PL environment - Essential.
* Proven experience in managing 50+ vehicles - Essential.
* Sub-contract management experience - Advantageous.

* Strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence - Essential.
* Commutable to the Acton area, West London region 5 x days per week - Essential.
Salary & Package:
* Salary - £50,000 to £60,000.
