Job summary You will join the renal multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to support the renal dietitians with the nutritional management of patients with kidney disease under the care of Kent Kidney Care Centre. Evaluate implementation of patients agreed dietetic care plan and use acquired judgement and dietetic guidance to make necessary and agreed modifications where appropriate. Feedback to the renal dietitians on outcomes of review consultation, keeping the people who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments escalating concerns to Registered Healthcare Professionals. Assist patients with eating and drinking at lunchtime on the renal ward. Maintain effective clinical records and correspondence according to Trust recommendations. Contribute to teaching, administration duties and audit work. Successful applicant must be available to work on Fridays. Main duties of the job Perform duties to aid the provision of an effective and efficient dietetic service to people with kidney disease under the care of Kent Kidney Care Centre. Support renal ward staff in the completion of nutrition screening, food charts, ascertaining patient dietary needs and prioritising patients for the renal dietitian to assess. Be responsible for ordering oral nutritional supplements and enteral feeds and stock checks in the renal dietetics service. Review in-patients and patients attending for haemodialysis at the centre unit as requested by the ward/unit registered dietitian. Liaise with ward housekeeper and kitchen staff regarding patient specialist dietary requirements. Support the registered dietitians in out-patient clinics with patients requiring a review. Be an active team member of the renal dietetic service at the Kent Kidney Care Centre, participating in service development, projects and attending team meetings. Contribute to regular in-service training programmes on renal nutrition to other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Participate in student dietitian training by acting as a 'student buddy'. Compliance with British Dietetic Association Code of Professional Conduct and local policies Participate in the appraisal process, maintain a Personal Development Plan and undertake training needed to fulfil the role of Renal Dietetic Support Worker.
